Update March 2022

It’s been such a long time since I last wrote a blog. So many times I put it on my to-do list. So many times it fell off again. I thought it was about time to update you and my website about my current activity as a health coach and let you know what else I am up to.

We have all been through a difficult couple of years. A lot of uncertainty, fear and feelings of isolation for many. I made a conscious decision during this time to not add to the many opinions all around us about what we should and should not be doing. However I feel now that we are beginning to breath a collective sigh of relief as at least as far as Covid-19 is concerned. It’s time to re-connect.

A few weeks before the lockdown began in 2020, I signed a contract to start working with a great organisation - foodwatch. Little did I know that soon the sports centre where I coached would close down. I did not know that in a matter of weeks people would be so occupied with trying to adjust to working at home, while home-schooling and dealing with all the new challenges we faced, health coaching would no longer be a possibility for many. Starting to work for foodwatch was a gift and one I am still very grateful for.

Over my time as a coach I have worked with over 120 people individually and many more through workshops and group presentations. It has been an amazing experience. I have learnt so much and I thank each and every one of you who I had the pleasure to spend time with and share a part of your journey to feeling better. I would love to send you all a message and see how you are doing now. If you do read this and want to drop me a line - I would love to hear from you

During my years working in nutrition I have become increasingly frustrated with what the vast majority of people are faced with when they enter the supermarket and try to find food to feed their families for the week. Food that claims to be healthy, but is full of sugar, additives or worse, contaminated. Lies that written on the labels to claims a food is environmentally friendly, or worse ‘carbon neutral’. Trying to make decisions between one brand or another with little information, while at the same time being bombarded with advertising for junk.

My work at foodwatch now goes right into these issues. We are working to ensure a nutritional label on the front of all food products that will tell the real story about the ingredients inside - at a glance. We are working so that pesticides which leave dangerous residues on our food can become a thing of the past. We are working to regulate the advertising of junk food. We are working to hold companies accountable when their products are contaminated with dangerous mineral oils… have a look at the kind of work we are doing at www.foodwatch.org

So for now my main focus is there - I want to try and help change the system that is governing our food choices. I am working with a great team and based at Mundo Madou which is a wonderful place to work.

However, I am still partly self-employed and, although I am not doing 1-2-1 coaching, I do have particular offers;

  • the online ‘Me&Mine’ 10 week coaching course is still available via my website - it is now FREE of charge - please just ask for access

  • I offer live (in Brussels) or online (zoom) sessions for teams on ‘Eating for Energy’ - how to avoid the energy rollercoaster and start feeling good all day - send me a message for more details. Reduced prices for NGOs.

I will still write a blog on issues that I think will interest you. Did you know that EFSA - the European Food Safety Authority recently published a report which concludes that there is no safe daily intake of sugar! Those who have worked with me know that I have been trying to get people off the sugar drug for many years - finally the official proof is out there - I will write more about it soon…
