2020 - what's in store?

Kicking off the year and the decade wishing you all fun and pleasure in cooking and eating and discovering new tastes. We are really fortunate (at least in Brussels) to be living at a time when great quality local, organic and seasonal ingredients are all around us.

Delighted to see the new initiative BioSoukCity around the corner from my house in Anderlecht which is providing fruit and vegetable baskets and has a small cafe with a homemade soup and really reasonable prices.

In the city centre the new Wolf foodcourt is offering a wide range of high quality food options in one of the most beautiful buildings in the city - renovated with style. You can choose from a number of well known Brussels-based “real food” options… all under one roof! There is also an organic market from the foodhub whose concept is based on knowing your farmers and providers - some of the vegetables come from the Groot Eiland which is just near the canal in Molenbeek.

I firmly believe that every single one of us deserves the best. However the best when it comes to food is not something expensive and inaccessible. We do not have to obsess over it day and night. It is simply finding seasonal, local ingredients (with plenty of veggies!!) and cooking up a homemade meal and enjoying it with others or alone and letting it play its role in your pleasure and health…

… and then we move on and enjoy everything else that life has to offer!

In this wish for simplicity

In a wish that we take some time to cook for ourselves (my recipes rarely take longer than 30 mins from chopping to table - and regularly less)…

In a wish that we enjoy the pleasures of sharing with people we care about…

In a wish for more and more good quality ingredients and real foods taking the place of pre-prepared and packaged stuff…

I wish you all a 2020 in which you just feel good!

To kick it off a recipe for Roasted Romanesco with Lemon - we had it last week and the roasted lemons really rocked! Romanesco is somewhere between a cauliflower and a broccoli - click on photo below for the recipe.
